MEDIAN Function

Returns the median of the given numbers, which is the number in the middle of a set of numbers.

  • number1  Required. A number, range, or array for which you want the median number.
  • number2, ...  Optional. Subsequent numbers, ranges, or arrays for which you the median number.

Excel 2003 and above


MEDIAN ignores cells that contain text, logical values, or empty cells in an array or reference argument. But cells with the value of zero are included.

With an odd number of items, MEDIAN returns the number with half above and half below:
