This figure uses dynamic chart legends. I had a lot of fun setting it up; I hope you like it!

Charley's Swipe File #34As you can see in these two examples, the legend automatically adjusts to the current value in the chart. 

In the left version, for example, the best-selling product line is Slacks; but in the right version, itís Shirts.

Because the sample data uses random numbers, the legend bar changes each time the workbook recalculates.

I used conditional formatting to create the dynamic legend. Thatís a problem if you still use Excel 2003, however, because that version supports only three conditional formats per cell.
